Satellite Installation and Repair Technicians File Case Against DirecTV Claiming Unpaid Wages and Overtime

Lear Werts LLP and our co-counsel Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP filed a lawsuit on March 2, 2010 against DirecTV, Inc., DirecTV Home Services, Inc., and AeroSat USA, LLC seeking unpaid wages and overtime resulting from the defendants’ piece rate payment policies.

Summary of Lawsuit

The lawsuit alleges that the Defendants failure to pay their satellite installation and repair technicians overtime premium pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek violates the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The suit also contends that, in certain workweeks, satellite technicians were compensated at an effectively hourly wage that was below the minimum wage. The lawsuit was filed as a collective action on behalf of all satellite technicians who worked for defendants during the last three years.

Bradford Lear and Todd Werts of Lear Werts LLP and George Hanson of Stueve Siegel Hanson LLP are representing the satellite installers and repair technicians who have initiated the collective action case. The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, Eastern Division and has been assigned Case Number 4:10-cv-00352.
